Kanchanaburi Information
Kanchanaburi is Thailand’s third largest province, covering some 19,483 square kilometers and borders Myanmar to the west of Bangkok. Kanchanaburi is the site of the world famous Bridge Over the River Kwai, immortalized in books and river valleys have inspired development of hydro-electric power and where labyrinthine
dam reservoirs provide further scenic elements to the province’s natural beauty. Beyond the compact provincial capital, some 129 kilometers, and a comfortable two-hour drive from Bangkok, where the Kwai Yai and the Kwai Noi rivers
unite to from the Mae Klong river, Kanchanaburi unfolds in progressively arresting scenic beauty in landscape characterized by several waterfalls, caves once inhabited by Neolithic man, national parks and tranquil riverine and reservoir settings.
Opportunities abound for bucolic living aboard rafts on dazzling rivers and reservoirs, and provide the focal point for nature lovers who deligsures without sacrificing basic comforts.

Occupations & Population
Approximately 800,000 persons living in this province, a border province adjacent to Myanmar, has residents with different minorities group, such as Mon, Karen, Lawa, Khamu, Thai Dam are 20 percent. Thai are 80 percent. Most of them 70 percent do agricultural to make a living, the main crops is sugar cane,rice and tapioca plantation. More than 15 factory produces sugar cane and tapioca and export to both domestic
and international market.
Transportation to Kanchanaburi
Knachanaburi is connected by daliy road and rail services with Bangkok and other neighbouring provinces. Air-conditioned and regular coaches leave Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal throughout the day for the 2-3hours-journey. Daily trains leave the Bangkok-Noi railway station for Kanchanaburi. The TAT office in
Kanchanaburi issues an updated and current timetable for bus and train services between Bangkok-Kanchanaburi and major nearby provinces.

Period of October - February is winter season temperature about 20c - 25c degree.
Period of March - June is Hot season temperature about 30c - 35c degree.
July - September is rainy season.
